It reconciles the changes on the cash on hand at end of a period with the beginning balance by including the income derive from non-cash revenue and expenses ââ¬Å"by adjusting net income for non-cash revenues and expensesâ⬠(Tempte, 2005). d. Statement of Changes in Ownersââ¬â¢ Equity ââ¬â the change in ownerââ¬â¢s equity happens when a business profits, its asset value changes and when its owners adds more capital or made withdrawals against the business (McGrann, 1998). Sole trader or single proprietorship is a business owned solely by an entrepreneur where owner assumes all responsibilities pertaining to the business and do not distinguish between the owner and the business. In effect, he or she also carries the whole burden of the businessââ¬â¢s liability. In the event that loss occurs, the liability will affect and extend to the ownerââ¬â¢s finances. With regard to its income statement, a sole trader has to pay tax on the business net profit and in the event that the net profit is over a certain threshold, the owner has to pay the Value Added Tax (VAT) of 17.5%. This VAT rate however has been decreased to 15% in consideration of the recent financial crisis. With regard to reporting for taxation purposes, a complete income statement and balance sheet should be submitted to HMRC. The financial statement of a sole trader is straightforward where accounts are simpler compared to limited companies where entries vary due to the complexity of the business. It involves deduction of expenses from sales to arrive at the taxable net profit or loss (which of course not taxable anymore because it is a loss). Limited companies are also called as Joint stock companies or partnership where owners or

Foreign Direct Investment Confidence Index Essay Example for Free
Foreign Direct Investment Confidence Index Essay The Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Confidence Index influences a businesss future decisions for ventures on foreign soil. Businesses use the index to compare countries for the most and potentially best prospective investment in order to profit from expansion. The FDI Index lists the top countries that are projected to be the most compelling to directly invest in fixed and variable assets in order to achieve management control (Ball, Geringer, Minor, McNett, 2010). According to Ball, Geringer, Minor, and Mcnett (2010) in International Business; The Challenge of Global Competition, ââ¬Å"if a nation is continuing to receive appreciable amounts of foreign investment, its investment climate must be favorable. â⬠Through analysis of projected countries for foreign investment, a company can determine if a foreign market is favorable to expand into since other companies are continuously investing in them. A.T. Kearney Inc., a global management consultant firm, researches and constructs the Foreign Direct Investment Confidence Index periodically in order to assist and advise CEOââ¬â¢s across the world in multiple markets make the most informed business decisions. With offices in thirty- seven countries, A.T. Kearney has the presence and global notoriety that corporations lean upon for expansion decisions (A.T. Kearney Inc., 2011). The companyââ¬â¢s vast experience advising top corporations in multiple industries lends credibility to the A.T. Kearney Inc.ââ¬â¢s analysis of the constructed FDI Confidence Index. The FDI Confidence Index is a widely used tool that is compiled using analysis of many components. A.T. Kearney Inc. begins the research for the top countries to invest by surveying the top corporate executives of one thousand of the largest businesses throughout the world and account for more than two trillion in annual global revenue, (Laudicina, Gott, Pohl, 2010). These selected companies are representatives from forty-four countries across seventeen industries (Laudicina et al., 2010). A.T. Kearney compilation and calculation for the FDI Confidence Index is meant to capture a true audienceââ¬â¢s opinion of the potential investment and expansion into foreign markets by observing a broad spectrum of companies business plan throughout their global investment perspective. The Foreign Direct Investment Confidence Index survey questioned each CEO and took a weighted average of their responses on a scale of high, medium and low when asked for the ââ¬Å"likelihood of the direct investment in a market over the next three years,â⬠as presented by Laudicina, Gott, and Pohl (2010). The survey did not question the senior executives on the likelihood of investment with in their own country (Laudicina et all., 2010). Therefore, the index values are non-biased and are based true opinions from leading CEOââ¬â¢s for the most desirable countries to invest company assets. Other sources that are taken into consideration in the compilation of the Foreign Direct Investment Confidence Index include data prepared by the United Nations. According to Investing in a Rebound: the 2010 A.T. Kearneyââ¬â¢s Foreign Direct Investment Confidence Index, ââ¬Å"FDI flow figures are the latest statistics available from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD)â⬠are used to assist in the compilation of the ranking of countries (Laudicina et all., 2010). Also, Laudicina et all. (2010) includes the, ââ¬Å"International Monetary Fund (IMF), investment promotion agencies, central banks, ministries of finance and trade, and major periodicals,â⬠for insight to determine the rankings of each country. A.T. Kearney Inc. uses multiple resources for compiling the FDI Confidence Index in order to construct the most representative statistics for future foreign investments. Even though the FDI Confidence Index ranks countries upon the likelihood of future investments from non-source corporations, the economic market has globally taken a downturn. Laudicina et all. (2010) responds in the publication, ââ¬Å"while conditions have improved, senior executives at the worldââ¬â¢s largest companies remain wary of investing during the current climate, and few expect a full turnaround before 2011.â⬠Top corporate executives, even though the market is down, still project potentially investment in equipment, structures and organizations in these top countries at a level that is sufficient to obtain significant management control within the next three years (Laudicina et all. 2010). The Foreign Direct Investment Confidence Index is compiled by A.T. Kearney Inc., a well-respected global management firm, in order to assist corporations in capitalizing company assets in foreign countries. This list ranks the top countries of foreign investment by surveying top senior executives around the world, using Untied Nations data on foreign trade and other publications in order to compile the most thorough analysis for corporations to use for the most prospective countries for foreign ventures (Laudicina et all., 2010). Even though the global economy has taken a turn for the worse, corporations are continuing to foresee future foreign direct investment as a possibility for their companyââ¬â¢s long-term business plan.

Forgotten War Crimes :: essays research papers
Forgotten War Crimes "The holocaust was such an unthinkable horror, the Nazi dictatorship so uniquely evil, that the calculated firebombing of more than half a Milan defenseless civilians in the dying days of the war had just fallen by the wayside."1 History is defined as all recorded events of the past, but with textbooks, historical journals, and other respected documentaries all denying, or refusing to acknowledge and give responsibility, the ruthless and criminal bombing of Dresden does not change the fact that it occurred. Thus history is biased by those who write it, and should not be taken as the whole truth; after all, over two hundred thousand innocent civilians lost their lives and do not deserve to be forgotten simply because America does not want to take responsibility actions and admit to what happened. This tragic event is simply swept under that carpet and neglected and termed a strategic bombing with military objectives. This bombing may have been strategic but it certainly did not have any military objectives which are stated throughout much of American history. It was, however, the strategic bombing and slaughtering of a quarter million innocent civilians. American history textbooks and documentaries state that the official objective in the bombing of Dresden was to destroy railway yards, thus delaying or preventing the deployment of German troops to the eastern front. To destroy rail-lines and rail yards, precision bombing is used. Contradicting this statement is the fact that the American planes flying over Dresden were not armed with precision bombs but instead with high explosive incendiaries used to create firestorms. What is also ironic is that after the bombing, not a single rail-line or rail yard had been disturbed. Other historical journals provided via the American government claim that Dresden contained a number of bunkers being used to house German Troops. Although Dresden did contain bunkers, they were being used to house American and British prisoners of war. By using such high explosive incendiaries and such elaborate bombing patterns, Allied bombers were successful in creating one of the most devastating firestorms claiming upwards of two hundred thousand innocent lives and utterly destroying on the most culturally historic centers in the world.

In the beginning of my research, I learned some basic information about college and preparation. Since I'm a senior, I felt that academic preparation was already too late since colleges mainly look at my gpa from grades from 10-11. The grades I have now will still affect my gpa and most importantly scholarship eligibility, so I'm aiming to do my best. So far, IVe met the fall checklist by checking with my counselor to see if I make graduation requirements. What I haven't done is register for and take the standardized tests required for college admission.I was recently informed at Vista's college night that in order to go straight into a four year you have to have already taken the SAT for college leveled class placement and submit your scores to the college you are applying at. Also, there are business I and my parents need to visit colleges campuses during the spring and in the winter apply to FAFSA (free application for federal student aid) or any other financial aid applications t he school I apply at may require. I also learned about the different types of Aid there are. There is Federal and Nonfederal.Federal Aid is money given to you that you dont have to payback, that is if you qualify. But if there is still more help needed, there is the federal student loan. But Just Just like any loan, money borrowed is money paid back. These loans are often more advised rather than other types of loans such as private student loans because of the often lower fixed interest rates. Another feature Federal Aid includes are Grants and Scholarships. These are sometimes known as ââ¬Å"gift aidsâ⬠, as said on the website, because its free money given without owing. Financial Aid is for definitely a main focus for me.

To establish positive and productive relationships
Arredondo Positive and productive relationships with families establish a strong connection for the benefit of nurturing and educating the children entrusted to my care. I know how important it is for the parents to know about their child's day, upcoming school events, and progress in all areas of the children's learning and development. I know that consistent communication is the key to a trusted partnership with parents. Having a clear understanding up front of what we can expect from each other helps us establish common goals for the benefit of the children. It is an important foundation for creating the very best early childhood experience for the parents and children. Daily communication between parents, teachers and school management is an essential component to my partnership. The parents will receive additional information on a weekly and monthly basis in a variety of formats including welcome letters, weekly and monthly newsletters, ongoing assessment communication, and paren t teacher conferences. Multiple forms of communication foster the connection between home and school to build relationships and create continuity of xperiences, which increase a child's sense of security and well being.I also provide my parents with helpful parent resources related to children's learning and development. Many items and links are classroom or age group specific, including book suggestions, home fun activities and additional online resources. In order to keep up with what's going on in the children's lives after they leave my care, I maintain a close personal relationship with the parents. To do this I must be attentive and trustworthy. I talk to the parents about the child's behavior at home as ell as at school. If there needs to be any adjustments including discipline I immediately talk to the parents about what we should decide on next. We discuss a plan that will work for home and at school so the child knows it's the same consequence in both environments. If ever I am not physically at work on a day a parent has a special request I leave a parent/ teacher log for them to fill out and leave. I was very eager to receive the questionnaires back from my parent's. I have quickly learned how much respect I have received from my families.I was thrilled to find that I meet, and in some cases over exceed expectations of the parents. Reading some of the parent's answers it's established that I have positive, responsive and cooperative relationships with their children and all members of their families. This was definitely one question all the parents seemed to agree on. In conclusion to this essay this has confirmed all my beliefs about my classroom and I. I will continue to grow professionally through out my years of teaching and look forward to many more

A Beginners Guide to Yoga essays
A Beginners Guide to Yoga essays Increasing back pain, raging stress, the onset of a migraine . . .who hasnt experienced some or all of these sensations at some time? Finding a cure for these discomforts would immortalize their discoverer and virtually ensure sainthood. Although not a panacea, yoga is a near cure-all for achieving relaxation and inner peace. Yoga, which means union or balance (1), dates back further than 2,500 years ago to the sacred Hindu religion. The ancient Rig-Veda (Knowledge of Praise) contains hymns created by kavi (seer-poets) able to look beyond their five senses. The hymns detail their ecstasies and insights, and form the basis of archaic Yoga (2). Devotees of Yoga today still seek these ecstasies and insights, and have various forms of Yoga to pursue to help them achieve them. Just like a flower can have many petals that extend from one stem, Yoga has many types that all share basic fundamentals. The four forms follow: 3. Raja Yoga (the science of mental control) 4. Gyana Yoga (the path of knowledge) While these forms of Yoga may appear disparate, in reality they complement each other. Raja Yoga, the science of mental control, contains three subdivisions, MantraYoga, Kundalini Yoga, and Hatha Yoga (3). All of these modes of Yoga target control of mental modifications and achieving the absolute. Hatha Yoga, the best known among them, seeks a transformation through physical purification and strengthening. The goal of Hatha Yoga is to magnify the awareness of the body and mind. Evolving from two Sanskrit words, Hatha literally consists of two planets: ha, which means sun, and tha, meaning moon. These two planets symbolize the two halves of the body and mind. Hatha Yoga aims to equalize these two halves to create a fully functioning individual. Conflict emerges, however, when one side typically overpowers the other yet is never completely liberated of its counterpart. Most people have been trained to favo...

Geography Facts About the Amazon River
Geography Facts About the Amazon River The Amazon River in South America is an amazing and important river for the planet and therefore, you need to know about it. Here are the eight most important things you need to know about the Amazon River. 8 Amazon River Facts The Amazon River carries more water than any other river in the world. In fact, the Amazon River is responsible for about one-fifth (twenty percent) of the fresh water that flows into the worlds oceans. The Amazon River is the second longest river in the world and is about 4,000 miles (6400 km) long. (In July 2007 a group of scientists reportedly determined that the Amazon River might just be the longest river in the world, taking that title from the Nile River. It will take further studies to substantiate the claim and for the Amazon River to be recognized as the longest.)The Amazon River has the largest watershed (area of land that flows into the river) and more tributaries (streams that flow into it) than any other river in the world. The Amazon River has more than 200 tributaries.Streams that begin in the Andes Mountains are the starting sources for the Amazon River. Most of the runoff of Brazil flows into the Amazon River along with runoff from four other countries: Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, and Ecuador. Due to the vast amount of water as well as sediment that are deposited where the Amazon River meets the Atlantic Ocean, the color and salinity of the Atlantic Ocean are modified for nearly 200 miles (320 km) from the delta. For much of its path, the Amazon River can be as much as one to six miles wide! During flood seasons, the Amazon River can be much, much wider; some report it is more than 20 miles wide (32 km) in certain places. The Amazon River took different routes since it began to carry water. Some scientists have determined that the Amazon River even flowed west at one time or more, into the Pacific Ocean.
